Traditional Tales with a Twist and Charades!
The Parkhill children have been engaged in a series of video conferences with Infants schools in the Borough of Redbridge and were delighted to be asked to share their work with Year 2 children at Scargill Infant School in Havering.
Today we had our first video conference with Miss Munford's Class 1 and some children in Class 3. They were a model audience who listened carefully to two stories and then asked some very good questions about the work.
The stories read today were:-
Snow White - where the characters were two sisters and seven friends.
The Three Little Pigs - where the characters were reversed and it became the three little wolves and the big bad pig.

Charades!
In order to make this a more interactive session the children at Scargill Infants had prepared two charades to perform.
The miming was superb and after a little discussion the Parkhill children were able to identify them both. The charades were a new idea, which was extremely successful and the children from both schools seemed to really enjoy them. It was great to be able to share ideas and for both schools to participate equally in the video conference.

We have another video conference with Miss Bain's Class 2 next week, when two different story tellers from Parkhill will be reading and we are looking forward to some more excellent mimes.
The children were very polite to us and listened really well we also like the way that one of the children did the shape of the egg in the game of charades.

I liked how they did charades for Little Red Riding hood in particular the way they mined the eyes and ears.

I felt very scared but happy about reading to Scargill School. They were very sweet and listened very well. The questions they asked me were very good.

I found that the children from Scargill did vey good charades. The first charade was best because the children mimed the horses very well.

I really enjoyed the first story The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig because it was different. It was the same storyline but Omar changed the characters.

The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig was fantastic because I liked the bit when the Big Bad Pig went red from the chilli.

I liked it when the Big Bad Pig ate the meat with the chilli on the top. In the second story I liked it when I heard that the nasty witch was Snow White's sister.

I read my version of Cinderella to Class 2 today and they sat very still and listened well. They also asked us some very good questions about our stories at the end.

Class 2 asked a very tricky question but it was very funny. They asked if we could do one charade about one of our stories, so we had to think of something very quickly.

I read the story of the Hare and the Tortoise, but using cars, and they asked me tricky questions about the characters. Scargill were a quiet audience and when they asked us to act out our stories it was especially difficult. Their charades were fun to solve as the props Miss Bain's class made helped us understand the mime.

Scargill was an excellent audience, they asked interesting questions especially when we had to act out one of the stories. The charades they did were very good and the props helped us to solve them.

Class 2 were a great audience, they had fabulous questions, it was obvious that they had taken a long time to prepare for us. The props helped us to identify the characters in the charades and they were very clear when they were doing the actions. It was fun.

Thank you Class 2, Miss Bain and Mrs Tyler for another fun video link. As always the children were such great listeners and everyone at Parkhill has commented on this. The charades were excellent, you had put a lot of effort into preparing the mimes and the props were wonderful. BUT....you put us on the spot rather asking us to act out one of our stories! That was tricky, but fun! We have all had a good laugh about that. I really hope that we can link up again soon. Thank you again.

In the first story my favourite part was when the car didn't win, like the hare didn't beat the tortoise. In the second story my favourite part was when Cinderella didn't find it so bad living with Rose.

This morning we took part in a video conference. It was a bit like my karaoke at home when you can see yourself on the tv. I liked the part of the story when they had a race.

My favourite story was The Big Bad Pig and the Three Little Wolves because Omar had changed the story around. I liked the ending when the Big Bad Pig ate the red hot chilli.
